Year 3 Admissions September 2026

New Year 3 Intake - Thomas A Becket Junior School September 2026

We are delighted that your child will be joining us in September, and would like to welcome the whole family to our school. We are sure that they will have a happy and enriching time with us and we have a range of activities to help ease the transition from infant school to junior school for all the family.

Transfer Open Evenings

Wednesday 24th June at 6:00pm or Thursday 25th June at 6:00pm

We are looking forward to welcoming you at one of our transfer open evenings to come and visit the school, commencing with a meeting in the main hall to hear arrangements for transfer day and the start of the new term.

You will then find out your child's year 3 class teacher and visit them in their classroom to hear about what the children will be learning in year 3, and any practical arrangements that you will need to be aware of.

This meeting is not suitable for the children. They will have the opportunity to experience the school and learn lots about year 3 when they come for transfer day.

There will also be stalls selling 'pre-loved' school uniform and stationery on both evenings, which can be purchased by card payment only.

 Free School Meals

The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best.  This funding is called 'Pupil Premium'.

This money could be used to help eligible families with the cost of school trips and visits.  Children who are registered will also be eligible to receive free hot school meals, saving your approximately £602 per year, should you wish to have them.

Please follow the link below to find out whether your child qualifies and how to apply.

More information regarding how to book and order a hot meal for your child will be provided at a later date.

You may also provide your child with a packed lunch if you wish.

School Communications with IRIS ParentMail and IRIS Pay

Communicating with parents is an important part of what we do to ensure you get the correct information about school news and activities.

Thomas A Becket Junior School uses IRIS ParentMail to communicate to parents.

Registering with IRIS ParentMail is very easy.  After your child has started with us you will be sent either an email and/or text message from IRIS ParentMail.  When you receive this please just follow the instructions in the message.

Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we would highly recommend you download the free IRIS ParentMail App for the best user experience.  To do this, simply search for "IRIS ParentMail" in your App store.

When registered you will have access to +Pay on IRIS ParentMail - an online payment service which allows you to pay for school trips/items quickly and easily on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

We will inform you about items you need to pay for through IRIS ParentMail and you will be able to pay electronically, using credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal.

 Clubs

We offer a variety of sport, music and other clubs that run either before school, during lunchtime or after school.

Our club timetable changes in September and after the Easter break.

Clubs that are run by our school staff are free of charge and are run on a goodwill basis.  During the first few weeks of the new term in September you will receive a ParentMail with details on how to sign your child up to attend one of our school run clubs.

Please note, many of our clubs are very popular and places cannot be guaranteed for all children that sign up.  Places are randomly selected, this is not done on a "first come, first served" basis.

We also have a number of clubs that are run by external providers and there is a charge for these clubs.

Further details can be found on the clubs page on our website here: Clubs

If you require childcare, we have an onsite Childcare Club which runs until 6:00pm. Information about The Childcare Club is available here: The ChildCare Club
