Year 3 Admissions September 2025
New Year 3 Intake - Thomas A Becket Junior School September 2025
We are delighted that your child will be joining us in September, and would like to welcome the whole family to our school. We are sure that they will have a happy and fulfilling time with us and we have a range of activities to help ease the transition from infant school to junior school for all the family.
Transfer Open Evenings
Tuesday 24th June at 6:00pm or Wednesday 25th June at 6:00pm
We are looking forward to welcoming you at one of our transfer open evenings to come and visit the school, commencing with a meeting in the dining hall to hear arrangements for transfer day and the start of the new term.
You will find out your child's year 3 class teacher and visit them in their classroom to hear about what the children will be learning in year 3, and any practical arrangements that you will need to be aware of.
These open evenings are aimed primarily for adults only.
There will also be stalls selling 'pre-loved' school uniform and stationery on both evenings, which can be purchased by card payment only.
Transfer Day - Wednesday 2nd July 2025

Free School Meals
The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called 'Pupil Premium'.
This money could be used to help eligible families with the cost of school trips and visits. Children who are registered will also be eligible to receive free hot school meals, saving your approximately £602 per year, should you wish to have them.
Please follow the link below to find out whether your child qualifies and how to apply.
West Sussex County Council - Free School Meals
Hot School Meals
As your child is moving up to year 3, they are unfortunately no longer eligible for universal free school meals. We are very pleased to be able to offer pupils a not school meal service in school provided by Chartwells using 'Steamplicity' technology at a cost of £3.09 per meal. Should you wish your child to still receive a hot meal please follow the process as detailed below, otherwise you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch from home.
How to order meals:
If you would like to take advantage of the hot meals service, you will need to activate a NEW account for Thomas A Becket Junior School with ParentPay (www.ParentPay.com).
Activation letters with the information that you require to register will be emailed directly to the priority 1 contact that you have given us on the Admission forms. This will be sent to you in July. This letter will advise you of a new code for you to activate your child's account at Thomas A Becket Junior School.
This is applicable to Free School Meals (FSM) children and for paid meals.
You will be able to select the meal that your child would like from the menu choices available on that day and orders can be placed up to 10 weeks in advance.
Information guides and FAQs activating your accounts and how to order meals are available here: School Meals
FSM
If your child is eligible for FSM, you will need to follow the process detailed above regarding how to order a meal, however you will not be charged. If you forget to place an order by the ordering date deadline, your child will receive a jacket potato, depending on availability.

School Communications with IRIS ParentMail and IRIS Pay
Communicating with parents is an important part of what we do to ensure you get the correct information about school news and activities.
Thomas A Becket Junior School uses IRIS ParentMail to communicate to parents.
Registering with IRIS ParentMail is very easy. After your child has started with us you will be sent either an email and/or text message from IRIS ParentMail. When you receive this please just follow the instructions in the message.
Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we would highly recommend you download the free IRIS ParentMail App for the best user experience. To do this, simply search for "IRIS ParentMail" in your App store.
When registered you will have access to +Pay on IRIS ParentMail - an online payment service which allows you to pay for school trips/items quickly and easily on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
We will inform you about items you need to pay for through IRIS ParentMail and you will be able to pay electronically, using credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal.

Clubs
We offer a variety of sport, music and other clubs that run either before school, during lunchtime or after school.
Our club timetable changes in September and after the Easter break.
Clubs that are run by our school staff are free of charge and are run on a goodwill basis. During the first few weeks of the new term in September you will receive a ParentMail with details on how to sign your child up to attend one of our school run clubs.
Please note, many of our clubs are very popular and places cannot be guaranteed for all children that sign up. Places are randomly selected, this is not done on a "first come, first served" basis.
We also have a number of clubs that are run by external providers and there is a charge for these clubs.
Further details can be found on the clubs page on our website here: Clubs
If you require childcare, we have an onsite Childcare Club which runs until 6:00pm. Information about The Childcare Club is available here: The ChildCare Club
